Ahhh...the weekend
I started my weekend happily; meaning I actually slept soundly for once. A big thank you goes out to my compadre Tylenol PM. I took Finley to the school to play with the chuck-it, but not before almost getting mauled by the neighbor's dog and trying to reunite same dog with its owner when it got out of the yard. This guy was worthless, by the way. He asked ME to get his dog for him and I"M the one who ended up chasing the little rat down the block when I realized that Joe Worthless needed to get his lazy rear in gear and chase his own dog. And he didn't even tell me thank you once. In my opinion, it's usually the people like this who shouldn't own dogs, probably shouldn't have kids either...and of course they have beaus coups of both.
I then headed down the Cherry Creek mall, picked up a few so-so items at one of my favorite stores, followed by this amazingly delicious (read: fattening) cinnamon sugar pretzel from Wetzel's Pretzels. I then sped over to the Aveda Institute for a haircut. Now, if you're not familiar with the workings of this "institute", let me clarify. This is a school for hairstylists, massage therapists, and pedicurists (???) in training. Everything is monitored by instructors but you're basically at the mercy of newbies. Oh, and did I mention that the prices are beyond dirt cheap? Hello $12 haircut...$35 hour-long massage! I'll take my chances, thank you. I sat down with this super friendly girl and must I say, she's the first one there (and probably ever) that knew the right thing to do with my hair. I have super thick, wavy hair that has a penchant for going somewhat Afro on me more times than I care to admit. She threw in some vertical layers and went at my hair with the thinning shears like a mad woman. An entire dust pan was filled with my hair and only a half inch off the bottom if that gives you an idea just how much hair I really have. I'm still working the "salon blowout-looking fab" look so I'm hoping that I can finally have the hair I've coveted for so long!
Rockin' hairdo and new threads in hand, I head to my favorite place: Barnes & Noble. I go to the bookstores on my weekends for a tasty beverage (today was blended lemonade) and perusing the latest celebrity gossip rags. And for those of you scoffing at my choice of reading material, I read as much, if not more, on current events in the world today...so there.
A new shopping center has just opened down the street from my house that has not only a sweet Super Target (my mecca), but things like Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, and various other outdoor shops. Innocently enough, I discovered one of my fave stores is now there! I decided to pop over to "check it out". Ha, yeah right. While I picked up some gear from this same store in Cherry Creek just yesterday, this store has WAY more things here and much better. I'm going back later today to exchange my yesterday purchases for sweeter purchases from the new store. It's probably a very good thing I'm moving in less than a week or else my wallet could be in trouble.
