2009 "resolutions"...if you want to call them that
We're on day 2 of 2009 and so far, it's looking good! I know most people make New Year's Resolutions and while I have been guilty of it in the past, I now don't bother with them. Why, may you ask do I sound so haughty about it? Reason: I don't think people take them seriously. It's like they're a last ditch effort to do an Improve Yourself 101 before the bell tolls. That being said, I like to have goals throughout the year. I make a list of things I either want/want to do and this has proved to be much more successful; for me anyway. So here is what I've got going so far:
- Stress less & chill out. I'm high-strung by nature (please hold the eye rolling) and tend to get stressed easily. It has started affecting my health so I'm making a very conscious effort to not get so stressed and take more deep breaths.
- Get back in shape. No I'm not looking to lose any weight! While I'm still in the same size clothes, living in a hotel since July and eating at restaurants for every meal has not done wonders to the body. I'm just looking to get back in better shape...especially before the wedding!
- Enjoy that I'm getting married in a little over 8 months! This is a biggie and shares importance with the first item on my list. Weddings can cause major stress and so far, I've not sprouted any gray hairs over it! In fact, no gray hairs to date!!!
- Plan the coolest/funnest/most enjoyable, yet budgeted wedding so everyone walks away with a smile and truly enjoyed themselves.
- Buy new camera equipment. I know what I want and it's waiting for me to put it into an online shopping cart. Which leads to the next one...
- Get my photography business back on its feet. I keep getting it started and then having to put it on the back burner due to life's events. I miss it immensely.
- Get back to Colorado and start a real/normal life with Dan. One that includes a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator! Cooking meals! Taking Finley for hikes and swims! Going to Whole Foods and Super Target!
- Be healthy again. I know I'm not a doctor and as a patient, you can only do so much. But I believe that the power of prayer and positive thinking can do a whole lot.
- Be the best person I can be. No one is perfect and I think we're all works in progress. So I'm working on the Mandy.09 version.
