Heaven...in retail form

There are certain retail stores that get my blood pumping, heart rate elevated, perma-grin on the face. Stores like Super Target (waaaay better than the regular one but I'll take regular Target over nothin'), Forever21, Petsmart (yes, I love shopping for my dog), Whole Foods (not strictly retail but it's uh-may-zing!). But there is one store that stands above the rest, that leaves me with mouth agape at the entrance. That store...is IKEA. For those of you not familiar with this mecca of mine, "IKEA offers a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products". This statement from the store's website doesn't even begin to describe what this place is really like. Simply put, it's like Pier 1 on steroids. This is not a store you can cruise through in a half hour. You need at least 2 hours of uninterrupted time to see everything in this place! There's even a real food court! Finally, a retail center that understands that you work up an appetite during the kinds of power shopping that IKEA pulls out of you!

Yes, I realize I sound like a complete nutjob talking about IKEA but until you have been inside the doors, you're thinking I sound...like a complete nutjob! Now, while I am a devout IKEA-goer, there have never been any near to me; at least 2 states away. That's a little too far for a day of shopping, even for me. During a conversation with my mom the other night, she exclaims, "I can't believe I forgot to tell you! They're putting in an IKEA by Park Meadows Mall; I think it's opening sometime next year." Um, what? They're opening The Store of all stores in Denver? Next year? Cue the rapid heart rate and shrill shrieking on my part. Yes, I know I'm not living in Colorado at the moment (for which Dan is extremely grateful after I told him of this blessed news) but I will be back there someday. And when I am, oh boy! Is it possible to rent a Uhaul to take shopping with you? ;)
