Why do I even bother...
I need to vent for a moment. I'm venting about the health insurance system (ha!) in this country and a little thing called "pre-existing condition limitations". I went online to my health insurance company's website today to check the status of my claims from my 2 hospital visits a couple weeks ago. Knowing that they would probably not be anywhere close to cheap, I wanted to see if anymore had been processed since I'd last looked...3 more had but they were held in pending. Curious little me clicks on each one, only to discover that they are being held up to my pre-existing condition and the limitations my insurance company holds over me!
I'm betting that the majority of the US population has some sort of pre-existing condition. Whether it be asthma, heart problems, allergies, diabetes...whatever. More than likely, said people will need medical care for these conditions. Meaning, these people will be shelling out more money to keep themselves from keeling over due to these conditions. Now, those of us that can afford health insurance do so to keep from going bankrupt from things like said conditions or health emergencies. A visit to the hospital can be a heckuva lot cheaper if you have health insurance. Oh no, but there is fine print to this! If you go to the hospital and have a pre-existing condition, your health insurance company may not even cover you AT ALL! So tell me, what is the point of having health insurance if you are denied coverage in the area of your pre-existing condition?!?!? Why am I shelling out a big chunk of money each month to have the 2nd to best insurance coverage my insurance company offers if they are not going to cover my wheezy rear!
I sincerely hope that our next president really takes a good look at this nation's healthcare system and does something to help out the people that actually keep the insurance companies in business.
