Does scenery really get any better than this???

A year or so ago, I was looking at a photographer's portfolio and while I wasn't moved by his work, I couldn't take my eyes off the location in which he had shot this one wedding. It was the stuff of postcards: jagged, snow-capped mountains with a sparkling lake at the base of said mountains. I knew that whenever I got married, that it would be in Colorado and it would be outside as you really can't have it any other way in Colorado! I emailed the photographer, inquiring about the location and soon learned it was called Piney River Ranch in Vail. I admit I was instantly disappointed as for those of you that don't know, Vail=$$$ and upturned noses. It was a HUGE deal when they put in the Super Wal-mart a few miles down the road; as we all know how "trashy" Wal-mart is...sheesh! I visited Piney River's website and was even more blown away by the rest of the images of the property.

Jump forward to September after Dan and I became engaged and I started contacting them for availability, and of course prices. Needless to say, I was again blown away by their prices as they didn't reflect the Vail zip code. It didn't seem right: beautiful scenery and pretty cheap costs considering.

I showed Dan this place, as well as another in Denver, but my heart kept coming back to Piney River. As cheesey as it sounds, I stumbled upon that photographer's website and the picture of Piney River for a reason; Piney River doesn't advertise as a wedding location, so I never would've found it in all the bridal websites I've since been latched to.

So the decision has been made, the contract filled out, and the deposit check sent. Piney River Ranch will be all ours on September 18, 2009. I cannot wait to see this place in all its glory!
